ACTIVITY:
1. Prepare five small posters depicting jobs in the community.

2. Make five corresponding name cards.

4. Facilitate a discussion covering the following questions: What things does this person do in their job? What does this person need to
learn to do this job? What things are you learning now that could help you in this job?

5. Confirm that they are learning things now that will help them in the future by playing the following game. Divide the classroom in three
equal sized groups. The first group is the math group; the second is the reading group; and the third is the writing group.  Hold one
picture in front of you and ask the first group if the job in the picture uses the skill that the group is representing. If the answer is yes have
the group stand behind you. As they are moving behind you help them come up with examples of when they use the skill. Repeat with
each group until all the groups are standing behind you. Repeat with at least three of the jobs discussed.

6. Ask the students to review what they learned about jobs and the fundamentals that they are learning in school.
